What to do when there is NO gas??? QUILT!!

This has been a bizarre week in western NC. Since the last hurricane, they say the Colonial Piepline that services my area, is way down in the amount of gas it is providing. There is absolutely NO gas in my little town, and in the big city of Asheville, maybe 3 out of 15 stations have any gas at all, and it is usually gone several hours after they get it. The lines are horrible, so much so that the police have to be there to direct traffic and prevent fighting. So, what does one do when stuck at home? Well, I sewed and sewed and sewed, lol. And I'll sew more today.

I bought this kit for these houses using a template set from the Tennessee Quilt Shop in Jonesborough a while back. What caught our attention is the unique Christmas fabrics used. I love these!! Here's pictures of the finished top and a closeup of the fabric line. So pretty.


Hopefully this gas thing will get over quickly. We are to leave for our vacation on Sunday the 28th (Cruise from Jacksonville to Key West and Nassau, then spend the weekend at St. Augustine, where I'm hoping to get some help from the Fountain of Youth!!!) I have a full tank of gas that we are absolutely saving so when we leave, we're hoping after we get away from this area we can find gas, as one tank won't quite get us to our destination. If there's no gas there, we will vacation for a week wherever we end up, lol. Wish us luck.

Pillow Wraps for Christmas

Wow!! Posting 2 days in a row. It's a record, lol. I made some Christmas presents already. I made sets of pillow wraps (4 per set) and will give a pillow also to my daughter, DIL and SIL. They are so cute!! Thought I would share to those very few people who visit my blog. You know who you are!! So, without further ado, here's a picture. (Click on it to make it larger)

Where has the time gone??

I can't believe it's been so long since I added anything to my blog. I've always been lax, but this is ridiculous, lol. I guess I've been a little busy with my quilting and trying not to go nuts listening to all the election crap. (FYI, all I want from our next president is affordable health care for ALL, and to get out of Iraq. So it looks like I'm voting for O'Bama.) I won't even get into this Palin stuff.

As far as my quilting, I'm working on this monthly wallhanging from a book called Quilter's Dozen by Janet Selck . The little quilts are sooo cute. You make a background quilt and then using snaps or velcro, you hang the monthly quilts on it. Here are pictures of the ones I have so far.

I'm also working on some Christmas things. One is a wallhanging of houses done in non traditional Christmas fabrics. And I'm doing this little thing called Countdown to Santa. I'll show pictures of those when finished.

Hopefully I can post on here a little more frequently. I'll try but can't promise anything.
