Baby Stuff and a threader

As you know I am going to be a great grandmother in April, so I have been on a baby things sewing frenzy. I am working on her (it's a girl!!) quilt but made a few other things. Found this pattern on a blog and just couldn't resist. They are burp cloths and bibs from Moda Bake Shop and are just the sweetest things. The burp cloths are made from prefolded diapers. The strap for the bibs is for all of them and is made from ribbon and suspender clips and embellishments.

Now about that threader. My sister, Roma, gave me this for my birthday. I have never had a threader that worked for very long, or worked very well for that matter, but this one is great. I don't know who makes it, but I'm sure you can buy them lots of places. I highly recommend this product.

March Tea Towels

I have my towels done for March!!! I feel so organized, lol. There are several more monthly things that I need to do, but I'll think about those later. Here's a picture of my towels. I make one set for me and one set for my Grandson, Alec, and his new family.

Panthertown Valley Hike

We had an awesome day yesterday!!! It was sunny and mostly warm so we took off and went south towards Lake Toxaway in NC and hiked at Panthertown Valley Wilderness area. It's a beautiful area with lots of trails, although none of the trails are blazed. We had to use a map. Kinda scary, but we sometimes made little arrows out of sticks to make sure we could find our way back, lol. We hiked a total of 6 miles, seemed like it was mostly uphill, but was probably about half and half. All I know is I'm feeling it this morning.

This picture is taken from an overlook about .3 miles from where we parked. That is the destination of our hike. It's called Little Green Mountain, but as you can see, it's not so little.

This picture is from the top of Little Green looking back at where I took the first picture. Then we had to hike back!!

Here's a site where you can go to read a little about the area. http://www.ncwaterfalls.com/panther1.htm. We had hiked there before, but came from the other side and hiked to a couple of really awesome waterfalls. This time we wanted to get up on the cliffs. Very cool place. I highly recommend it.

Here's a couple more pictures.

Today it's raining, so I get to sew!!!

My Stimulus Package

We got a nice income tax refund, so I decided to splurge and bought this design wall from Nancy's Notions. It's 72x72. I didn't have a wall big enough for a bigger piece of flannel,(you can see my little space on the wall to the right) but this will surely be big enough, lol. What's nice is that is folds up into a little bag. Here's a pic. I am in the middle of cutting and sewing 2 projects, so don't mind the sewing area, it is a mess. I will have to take it down whenever I do a quilt on the superquilter as you can see it blocks it almost totally. But so far I love it!!! The birds on the wall are for a quilt for my great granddaughter who will be here in April. I loved this pattern from McCalls Quiltings latest edition.

February Calendar BOM done

Just a little addendum for today to show my February Country Calendar block from Ellie's
It's sweet.

My Mom

I don't usually remember anniversaries of deaths, but my sister reminded me that today was the day our mother died. I thought I might share the few pictures that I have of my mom and myself, and a couple of others. I only had 1 picture of her with my son Jack. She died when I was 28 years old. I still miss her.

February already

Well, February is here and time to start another round of BOMs. I finished quilting my February Quilters Dozen wallhanging. It another cutie. I'm almost finished with the calendar block from Ellie's and will post when I'm finished.

I also have all the blocks done for my Bee's Knees quilt. Now to sew them together and put on all the rick rack. It is a happy quilt.

Hope everyone has a great day and plans to enjoy the 6 more weeks of winter.
