What a week!!

I had a very busy week, for some reason. But it was all enjoyable and the weather was great. I did get a bit of sewing done. A friend of mine has always wanted a house on her property instead of a mobile home. I told her about 10 years ago, that whenever she built a house, I would make her a wall hanging. Well, guess what? LOL. She is a cowgirl at heart and wanted something "horsey". I couldn't find any purchased patterns that I liked, and resorted to googling "horse quilts" under the images tab. This picture came up, and I was never able to find out who made this. So I drew it freehand and made it into a wall hanging. If the person who made this originally sees this, please let me know. I want to thank you. I made the eye a bit too large so he looks a little scared, don't ya think? But I tried some freemo quilting on my Bernina and was rather pleased with the result. I think she will like it.

Next week we're going to go to Atlanta to see my son's new house. And we will play some golf while we're there. Just a short visit though, just the way I like it!!

April stuff

Well, finally the weather got nice again. We went for a 6 mile "walk" at the NC Arboretum yesterday. It was beautiful!! This place is run by the NC university system and like all universities, they are getting strapped for cash. So to do our part, we became members, which is to our benefit as it saves $6.00 parking each time. They have miles of hiking trails, and tons of gardens with the most amazing flowers, as well as a "Quilt Garden." If you're ever in the Asheville area be sure to visit there, it's just off the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I finally got my April Country calendar block done. Another sweet one!

I also finished up a charity quilt that I did with ladies from The Quilting Bee Forum. It's called in the Dog House and it's so sweet. Myra (Gr8Dame) made the top, Lynn donated the backing, Debbie and Maria sent the batting and Valerie made the label. It came out so nice!! I donate my charity quilts to the Guardian Ad Litem program in Asheville. It is a worthy cause that helps children.

Well, Friday is laundry day, so I'd better get moving.

April Showers

Seems like it has been raining for weeks, but it does give me time to get some quilting done. Appropriately enough, the April Quilter's Dozen block is a girl with an umbrella. I finished my April tea towel for my new granddaughter-in-law, but sent it before I took a picture. It was a cut one too. Next I need to get the April Country Calendar done.

Where have I been???

Time has gotten away from me. I have been sewing sewing sewing and not posting here. But now I have pictures!! Oh, and let me say for those of you that I used to "follow", I no longer do that. I found I can keep up with your blogs easier by checking the list on the sidebar of MY blog. I never did go read anything on the followers list. So, I am still following you all, just not in the biblical sense, lol.

OK, pictures. I made this construction playmat for my step great grandson, Ryan. He just had a baby sister and I didn't want him to feel left out, so I made this. (I'm sure you must have seen the announcement about my new great granddaughter somewhere, as I think I have told everyone, lol. Her name is Mackenzie. I am very proud!!) If you look closely, you can see the heavy equipment toys. They are just like the machines on the mat. Dave had to play with these for a while. He can still make truck noises, even in his advanced age, lol.

Next, I got to play with my sister's KenQuilter and finished up a quilt I did last year. It was a BOM from Claudia's Quilt Shoppe . It ended up being a huge quilt, much too big for my super quilter, so I used my sister's machine. I did an all over meander for the quilting, and I really like the way it came out. Dave had a hard time holding it up, he was saying hurry up, it's heavy!, and I'm saying hold it higher, it's touching the ground!! LOL. It's a pretty quilt though.

I also made an apron from a pattern I found somewhere, can't remember where, but it is a pretty basic one. It was fun to do.

So, that's all for now.

We took a really nice waterfall hike this week and hopefully I can get the pictures downloaded soon. It was awesome. Will post about that next.

Later,

Only 140 more working days til I retire!!!
